Insect Industry Innovation Scan: Europe and Singapore
Foodvalley NL and Enterprise Singapore, both having a great network of knowledge and business partners involved in the insect market, see an important future for insects and their role as upcyclers in a circular agrifood system. The way insects are grown is professionalized and scaled and an important mean to upcycle agrifood side streams towards a value source for food that can be one of the solutions to bridge the protein gap by 2050.
In the newly published Insect Scan, Foodvalley NL and Enterprise Singapore team up to highlight the rapidly occurring innovations in this exciting sector from an Asian and European perspective. The jointly developed Insect Innovation Scan brings together a shared vision on the development and opportunities of the insect sector internationally. The whole scan can be downloaded via the following link: Insect-Industry-Innovation-Scan_Europe-and-Singapore_v1.pdf (foodvalley.nl)
With this scan, Foodvalley NL is reaching out to all relevant international stakeholders who can contribute to the acceptance and further development of the insect value chain as a valuable contribution to a sustainable, affordable, and nutritious agrifood system. The role of Foodvalley NL in this development at this point will be to bring together and support producers, retailers and food service companies to pave the way to the consumer. Therefore, we also launched an Insect Initiative for partners in the Insect value chain to partner up for developing new insect food applications for the Northwest European market. With this initiative, we work towards new collaborations that result in bringing new product and market concepts from edible insects successfully to the plate of the consumer in the Northwest Europe market.
